A customer came to us asking for a refresh for two window designs she bought from another vendor. THESE WERE NOT OUR PIECES ORIGINALLY. It’s not the first time we’ve been asked to redo another maker’s piece so we were happy to do so. These windows had a lot of moss in them— about half the window was moss. The flowers included were very discolored and faded, and there was no greenery to speak of. This customer wanted our popular “wildflower” design for both frames, with lots of colorful blooms. Here’s the end result. Yes, our flowers are dried. They hold their color well due to the process we use to dry. Our hope is she will enjoy these for many years.

Thanksgiving will hit different this year. How many years do we all sit around the table, thinking these days will last forever? Last Thanksgiving we knew we were running out of time with Josh. We didn’t know it would literally be days… and this Thanksgiving when we gather around the table we will be so thankful for the memories of last year, and mourning that he’s no longer with us. Savor the moments. We still have flowers from his funeral waiting to become something. It’s hard to start this project. We make botanical designs for many others who have lost a loved one: we haven’t done it for ourselves. Sorry to be maudlin. Our hearts are heavy this holiday.

Putting together a little Christmas cheer botanical design. I never feel certain about making a “Christmas” design. I love it, but I’m not sure how others will feel. Every year I debate. This design is white baby’s breath, red roses, sparkly gypsophila, creamy larkspur, and cedar branches. The final product is a subtle nod to the feelings and colors of Christmas, but is honestly pretty enough to stay up all year round. Feels cozy. What do you think?

We are embracing this year’s theme: love what you do! We aren’t doing a lot of fancy decor in our booth (even for the holidays) and instead are focusing on letting the beauty of our pieces shine so you can see the love we put into them. What do you think?

We had a painful weekend finalizing some of my brother-in-law’s estate. It snowed and covered the hydrangeas at his home and something about this felt exactly as I feel. Beauty and cold and life and death all in one moment.

UPDATE: We unfortunately have sad news to share- our last market of the year @vintagemarketdaysnashville has been cancelled by the organizer. This was completely out of our control and we were just as surprised by the news as all of you. We are disappointed we won’t be back in Nashville this year as planned.

What this does mean is that our last two markets that are scheduled currently are where we can say you can shop with us for certain this year— we will be at the Fairmont Band Boosters Craft Show in Kettering, Ohio on Nov. 22, and our studio will be open as part of the Christkindl Market with @frontstreetartist on Nov. 29. We are working on a new online product drop we will share with you soon. And we maaaaaaay see about another in-person shopping option for the year. UPDATE: We unfortunately have sad news to share- our last market of the year @vintagemarketdaysnashville has been cancelled by the organizer. This was completely out of our control and we were just as surprised by the news as all of you. We are disappointed we won’t be back in Nashville this year as planned.
